SXSW

Nothing was plan out for this years SXSW, better yet I didn't really think to go, look up who was playing, or check my pockets to see if I had any money. After reading everyones post on facebook about The Strokes show, how much fun they where having, drinking, dancing, I said, "To HELL WITH IT, LET'S GO TO AUSTIN!!!"
I'm glad I found a new daredevil friend at the new job, with out thinking twice she agreed. That night we searched for cheap and available rooms and after an hour of bing, hotel.com, and priceline, the Marriot agreed to my $95 bid. We went to work on Saturday morning and clocked out at exactly 2:30 p.m. The usual 3 hour drive took only 2 hours and 15 minutes it was probably due to the great company, the six pack of beer, the chocolate pretzel or the cheese puffs.

At the Marriot no ideas, no plan, but ready for a party! Gotta' start early who knows how pricey drinks will be. Lagunitas Pale Ale yummy stuff! Found the redbull party, the line was super long. No time for standing still "WE WANT TO DANCE!!"
Decided to go to the front of the line and just cut as soon as the line started to move. The music was great, a little mix of hip hop, fist pumping, and old school dancing. One thing that annoyed me was the b-boys on the left side of the stage. Way to cocky and I've seen better moves. A girl tried to get up on the stage and danced and was quickly pushed down by the boys, maybe I'm use to the sweetnest of my Houston guys who will invite anyone to the dance floor because after all it's a party! Got to listen to DJ Jazzy Jeff and a a song or two from De La Soul.

Place was too pack and I wanted to listen to PELIGROSA before the party was over. Los Rakas

Musica en las venas! I like finding cool tats and chicks! 2:30 in the morning , drunk and walking. Sunday morning decided to stop by flip happy. Cute crepe place in Austin.

Cute and friendly shop around the corner from Flip Happy. Great place for souvenirs! Adrian recommended we get some Brazos Ice cream, which is made with goat milk. I really like! Great get away! Maybe next year we'll stay there the whole week.

It was a couple years back that I stumble upon their video "Por ti".
Who doesn't like a funky beat, lights, and a cute girl music video?
"Por ti" had the record for most weeks on MTV Mexico's Top 20, peaking at number-one for twenty-nine weeks. WOW!
Any how, she's pretty fashion and the music is fun so, add them to your I-pod.

At a hot 35 she’s known for her graffiti and urban art which started in the streets of France in 1994.
Her aerosol and paintbrushes give life to Fafinettes, who bring fun, sexy, and playful where ever they are placed.
Pink, hearts, undies, bright colors, and other cool friends are part of Fafi’s world, Fafinettes are not all play they are also aggressive and bold.
Fafi’s passport has been stamped by places such as Japan, China, Europe, U.S., Cuba and Mexico to name a few.

Rodrigo y Gabriela

This was my second time listening to them. I actually have to thank MTV for this one, they came out on a brief commercial after a reality show.
Who says, they don't play music no more?!?!?!
I was surprise at the amount of people at House of Blues and also by all the nationalities. Some spoke Spanish and the others just wanted to listen to a good Metallica cover.

Panteon Rococo

Last week House of Blues had the crowd dancing thanks to the killer beats of Pateon Rococo and two other great ska bands from Houston.
At exactly 8:30, with the crowd still gathering, Fuska started to jam and the folks started dancing. They are a young band full of energy with a lead singer who can’t stand still, he just wants to get it going.

The room got heated as soon as Laskaretas stepped in, with the rhytme of the drums going hard one was bound to start sweating.
Two great bands to represent that Houston sure knows how to get its music on.

With 400 people screaming for Panteon Rococo, this was bound to be a good show.
Panteon Rococo is a ska band from Mexico City that was born around 1995.
The infuse styles of punk, reggae, salsa, and cumbia are pack into an energetic sound that comes with a positive political message.
This was there 2010 Ejercito de la Paz tour, The Peace Army tour, which voices, “Stop the racism and love the music." Most of their songs deal with government abuse, the improvement of society, and in this concert the main focus was the racism that’s going on in Arizona. The audience agreed with the message as they took part of the mosh pit, guys and girls didn’t care who they where slamming to of course they would pick up anybody who fell to the ground. One was able to spot Santos, el Zapatista, and the ring of smoke inside the mosh pit as the drums and the sax made the none dancers enjoy the show.
